My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three Christmas traditions.
I have mixed minds about traditions. As a Type A creature of routine, I love to know what to expect and when to expect it. But, I also like to experience new and exciting things. When it comes to holiday traditions, I try to be flexible. While I would probably always prefer certain things to remain the same, I am open to experiences that could become new traditions.
There are a lot of things we do every Christmas season - looking at lights, waiting until after Thanksgiving to decorate, baking cookies, watching more Hallmark Movies than is reasonable, to name a few. But, those are the things that, if they disappeared, I’d be fine.
When it comes to traditions, I am most fond of the things that stick with my heart. For me, keeping some Christmas traditions the same is a way to create memories. It’s comforting to look forward to certain activities every year. There’s warmth and joy in remembering how we always spend these days. That’s what makes the holidays special.
