My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three cookout foods.
Summers are for eating foods outdoors. I may hate having to battle mosquitos, but I am willing to endure the little buggers for a chance to socialize and dine in the open air. There’s something about the lazy enjoyment of a cookout that brings magic to the season. I love gathering with my friends while someone grills and the rest of us lay out dish after dish on the table. We chat as we crack open beers and, nowadays, remind our kids to wash their hands before they eat.
Cookouts are the best kind of get together. Everyone mingles and conversations are filled with laughter. There may be yard games where figuring out your throwing strategy while holding a beer is key. You can eat whatever you please whenever if suits you. Food stays out for grazing so you can help yourself to a second portion or randomly snatch a single item off a tray. As casual events, the only expectation is that everyone has a good time.
