My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three drama TV series.
The husband and I rotate which series we decide to binge. This is a good thing. It provides balance. He has quite varied taste while I tend to gravitate towards meaty dramas. I like series with deep plots full of tense situations, politics, and emotions. I want to hear swelling music and be wowed by detailed sets and production values. But, most of all, I want strong narrative storytelling and great scriptwriting. Good TV dramas are the shows that feel like a novel come to life on the screen.
The best drama series are the ones that stick with you. They create worlds so strong that you feel like you’re a part of them. The characters are people you want to check back with over and over. In these shows, it feels like there’s something at stake - even when all you’re doing is sitting on the couch. Great series stay with you long after you turn of the TV.
