My Top 3 is a weekly post where I countdown three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re counting down my top three favorite animals.
When you think about it, animals are funny things. Each one is different. Some have fur, some have spikes, some have scales, and some are covered in goo. Two legs or too many. Forward facing eyes or none at all. Prehensile tails and hooked claws. It’s like someone spun a random wheel to make each creature. But that diversity is what makes the animal kingdom so darn awesome.
Animals are inherently bound to their environment. They make it better by being exactly what they are. The circle of life is a wondrous thing to behold. Animals in the wild just do their thing and life goes on.
I love looking at animals and seeing what makes each one interesting. One benefit of living where I do is the National Zoo. I can visit it whenever I want. While zoos can never be the wild, they do allow me to see and learn about animals first hand. Otherwise, I’m going to watch lots of Planet Earth so I can say, “I didn’t know that!” and “Cool!” a lot.
