My Top 3: House Plants

My Top 3 is a weekly post where I countdown three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three house plants.

While I do not have the patience to maintain Hilton Carter’s jungle of house plants, I do enjoy having greenery in the home. I find that plants make a space feel full and lived in. I’m a homebody who hates moving. Plants are the embodied vision of my desire to put down roots. When I add a plant to a space I can step back and say, “This spot is done.”

Additionally, there are numerous benefits to having plants in the home. They lower your stress level. Some varieties can help clean the air. Caring for plants provides a nice routine and ritual. Plus, if you have kids, they can help teach responsibility.

Plants make me happy. They let me bring nature inside (where I can avoid mosquito bites). They truly bring life into a space.
