Must be an age thing, re: Titanic. I was in my early 20s when it came out and I couldn't have been less interested. For a long time, it was a real point of pride for me that I'd never seen it, kind of like how I hadn't read or seen Twilight a decade later. But I did read Twilight and see the first movie last summer. They were mediocre, but not as bad as I thought they would be. So I finally will watch Titanic, now that it's supposedly back on Netflix. I hate DiCaprio, though -- he's the main reason I've avoided it. And the length of the movie. And Celine Dion. But yeah, the costumes and Kate Winslet -- those parts should be fun! Love her.
I liked The Martian, after having been dragged to it reluctantly, but you're right that competency porn is very satisfying! Haven't seen Apollo 13. Not very interested, but I don't have a hateful grudge against it or anything. It's funny, I love Tom Hanks the human being, but I was so deeply scarred by Forrest Gump that I haven't seen many of his films after that. But I will always love Big and A League of Their Own.
