My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three recent music rediscoveries.
I used to listen to a lot of music when I was younger. Pop hits, oldies, movie film scores - you name it, I probably gave it a whirl at some point. I had binders of CDs and, later, more than my fair share of illegal Napster downloads. Then, after I discovered podcasts, I stopped listening to music except when I was in the car. I found that I much preferred my work and commute to be accompanied by the soothing voices of podcast hosts and lots of NPR.
Cue the pandemic. Once I was stuck working at home with a baby, podcasts were just too much. I reverted back to music which always had a magical way of making me happy and easing my stress. We have a couple of Alexa devices in our home which made streaming easy. In those months, when I was asking for random playlists, I rediscovered artists I once loved. Eventually, I came to ask for individual singers in rotation.
While I still love podcasts, I am more apt to put on music during the day. These three in particular give me a kick of nostalgia which makes every day a little bit better.
