My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking my top three new year intentions.
I spent the past few days wrapping up and reviewing 2023 and strategically planning for 2024. My new bullet journal is (mostly) set up, I’ve listed out my major to-do plans for the year, and I spent some time pondering how I want to grow. A few years ago, I started to pick a word of the year to set the tone of what I hope to achieve. During the pandemic, I was simply hoping to “endure.” As things opened, I wished to “engage.” This year, I am ready to “reclaim.” I’m itching to make more space and try new things, while getting back to the parts of myself that I miss.
I long ago gave up on resolutions. The ones I set always felt strict and proscriptive. They always set me up for disappointment. In order to reclaim, I’m setting intentions instead. These intentions are more directional and growth focused. I find that intentions allow me to do things instead of stopping me from doing things. I much prefer that positive tone.
Here is to a great new year. I hope 2024 proves to be a good vintage for everyone.
