My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three restaurant desserts.
I rarely order desserts at restaurants. By the time this part of the meal shows up, I’m usually too full (or tired) to add one more thing. Plus, I always find it hard to justify ordering something I could make at home. I just can’t wrap my brain around paying $10 or $20 for a single serving of something. I could make an entire batch for less! But desserts are a profit driver for restaurants which means they always look really tasty.
On the rare occasion I cap a meal with dessert, I’m usually sharing a single order with my companion. Tacking on dessert is a nice way to continue our meal and conversation. It feels communal. You can’t really share drinks and, depending on what entrée you order, splitting a main dish can be complicated. But dessert? That is designed for two spoons or forks.
