My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’ve got my top three things I do differently after dating my husband.
This week, my husband and I celebrated our ninth wedding anniversary. We met in college and have known each other for 22 years. (That fact breaks my brain a little bit.) In all that time, we’ve grown and changed together. I’m Type A and like to do things my way. I plan, I prep, I organize and, if something throws all that off, I get cranky. I’m also an introvert who loves to follow routine and spend time at home. My husband is a bit of an extrovert who handles change and impromptu activities well. We’ve learned how to make our different personalities mesh in a way that works for us.
When you’ve been with someone for so long, it’s hard to not pick up on their habits and quirks. Our partner’s have different - and sometimes better - ways of doing things. Over time, we may change our behavior. This isn’t always a conscious activity. When we look back, it can be fun to see how what we do now was influenced by others.
