My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three travel souvenirs.
When I travel, I’m that person taking far too many pictures and writing notes in a journal every night. I love capturing how it feels to experience some place new. I try to get it all down so that I can remember the highlights later. Part of my travels include bringing home a small souvenir or two. Finding these items becomes part of the journey itself. I get an excuse to pop in to new stores or walk around different neighborhoods.
I’m not big on “stuff.” I don’t want souvenirs to become something I have to deal with on a daily basis once I’m home. I also hate encountering last minute packing problems. For me, the best souvenirs are on the small side, help me remember a place, and have something that captures the essence of the trip. Souvenirs are memory touch points that help me feel connected to a special space and time.
