My Top 3 is a weekly post where I count down three things I love in a random category. This week, we’re looking at my top three tropical fish.
One of the best Christmas gifts I ever received was a twenty gallon fish tank. It was the perfect size for my room and I had a lot of fun filling it up, adding a sunken ship, and picking out my first fish. I started with goldfish to get my feet under me and then, after they all got ich and died, moved on to freshwater tropical fish. They gave me hours of entertainment and company.
My tank was in my bedroom and I enjoyed doing my homework near it. I also liked zoning out when I needed a minute - just watching the fish swim around. It was like that old school screen saver come to life. Calming and meditative.
There are two main kinds of tropical fish - freshwater and saltwater. I’m going to focus on the freshwater ones. One, that is what I had. Two, they are readily available for purchase. Three, they’re all really pretty to look at.
