The Best Thing is our weekly discussion thread where we share the one thing that we read, listened to, watched, did, or otherwise enjoyed recently.
DC was not in the path of totality for yesterday’s eclipse, but we did have 88% coverage. It was so cool to see the light get weird and the crescent of the sun through my eclipse glasses. What I enjoyed even more was the sense of community in chatting with random strangers all gathered on the street to watch this event.
My best thing is that my friend was traveling to Ohio to see the eclipse with her mom, and they have a fraught relationship, so she asked if I would make them a roadtrip playlist. I looooove to make playlists, so I had a great time putting one together for River and her mom Anne Marie.
I didn't really see the eclipse because I was driving home from work at the time. It didn't get very dark in Baltimore, more like a big cloud moved slowly across the sun before a thunderstorm. But I am glad you got to see it!
