The Best Thing is our weekly discussion thread where we share the one thing that we read, listened to, watched, did, or otherwise enjoyed recently.
My best thing for the week was my kid’s joy. She got a new book this weekend (thank you, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library) and adored it so much she asked to bring it to daycare. The photo of her beaming smile when she got to watch her teacher read it is going to make me happy for the rest of the week.
Dolly Parton is a saint on this earth. I love what she does for her community. I even have a Little Golden Book biography of her!
My best thing is that today is my last workday until May 30th. Tomorrow my best friend and I are driving to Nashville and spending a week there. We're seeing Crowded House at the Ryman on Friday night, and otherwise are completely unscheduled. We're staying in a log cabin Airbnb. I think it will be the vacation of a lifetime. We've been to Ocean City together a few times, but 34 years of best friendship, this is our first "real" vacation together.
